The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) has an immediate opening for an experienced Television News Writer. MBN is a Washington, DC. based international multi-media broadcasting corporation broadcasting television and FM /AM radio news and information in Arabic to the 22+ Arabic speaking countries of the Middle East and North Africa as well as to Arabic speakers across Europe.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: News writers are responsible for writing scripts for news broadcasts. The incumbent translates material from English into Arabic. The incumbent works closely with MBN’s editorial personnel, Production & Broadcast Operations.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: - Communicate and translate from English to Arabic- Develop and write new stories in classical Arabic with clarity, accuracy and balance- Perform under deadline pressure - Complete a variety of writing assignments for summaries, news programs, news packages, live events and features.- Experience with digital news broadcasting - Responsibilities may also include assisting producers, up to and including line producing.- Maintain a knowledge of current International and US events- Ability to conduct on-line research for difficult story assignment

QUALIFICATION: - Bachelors degree in journalism or broadcast journalism- 3 years experience writing international news or other professional writing experience- Strong attention to detail- Able to work effectively with all levels of management- Strong computer and database skills- Exercise self-discipline and time-management skills- Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news environment which will include overnight shift coverage.
