Journalists can apply for free speech award

15/08/2007Journalists across the globe can compete for the International Award for Freedom of Speech, which recognizes reporting that shows “free and independent vision,” regardless of the subject matter.

Entry deadline: September 15.

The award is worth EU€5000, organized by the Marseille-Provence-Alpes du Sud Press Society, is open to professional journalists who work for international news agencies, whether operating locally or regionally. Entries should have been published or broadcast from September 1, 2006, to August 31, 2007.

Applications should include an original copy of the published article (15,000 characters maximum), a VHS copy for TV (12 minutes maximum), or a tape or CD for radio entries (6 minutes maximum). All entries should accompany a French translation.
